GST 2.0: changes of GST 2.0 are gradually being implemented in India. Many other sectors including car manufacturers are providing advantage of these deductions to the customers. Even everyday things will start getting cheaper from this week. But talking about the tech sector, this is not a relief news for smartphones and laptop buyers.
Laptops will be cheap?
Like mobile phones, the laptop has been applying 18% GST so far. Even after the implementation of GST 2.0, no change has been made in this rate. That is, even after 22 September 2025, there will be no fall in the prices of laptops. The smartphone industry was expecting tax cuts for a long time but the government did not approve it. 18% GST rate is an important source of government income, so it has been retained.
Why smartphones and laptops kept out?
GST Council has not included smartphones and laptops in new discounted rates. Government gave them "Non-Essential" Has kept in the category. This decision surprises because both these sectors are one of the fastest growing gadget markets in India.
Which products will be benefited?
Just before the festive season, the government has reduced GST on some products so that customers make big purchases. These include.
- Big LED TV
- Air Conditioner (AC)
- dishwasher
