Google Update: Recently a big warning has been issued regarding Chrome and Gemini Integration. According to the report, Google’s browser is now collecting sensitive data from the smartphone. This includes your name, location, device ID, browsing and search history, product interaction and records of purchasing.

Google has announced that Gemini is being added to Chrome from now on, which the company has described as the biggest upgrade ever. But according to Surfshak’s report, this update is the most dangerous for the privacy of users. According to research, Chrome and Gemini together collect 24 types of data directly that is more than any other AI browser.
Comparison with other browsers
While Microsoft Edge and Copilot together track only half the data, browser like Perplexity, Opera and Brave gather very few information. Surfshak has warned that users should understand how much information their information is not safe after adding Gemini to Chrome.
Extension and third-party threat
Browsers like Edge and Firefox are also facilitated AI extensions (eg chatgpt), not only Chrome. But by installing these tools, your personal information can reach third-party companies. Many times the extension downloaded from the official store has also been caught in data theft.
How much truth in Google’s claim
Google says that “Gemini in Chrome is only active when you use it yourself.” But the reality is that as soon as you use it, your information reaches the company. Reports have also revealed that Google can bring its popular image editing tool Nano Banana to Google photos. Cyber security experts say that every uploaded photo contains very sensitive information like biometric information, GPS location, device details and social network patterns.
Apple took steps
On the other hand, Apple has implemented anti-fingerprinting technology by default on Safari browser in iOS 26. But if you use Chrome on the iPhone, then no such security will be available. For this reason, Apple has advised users to avoid Chrome and choose Safari.
Ways to avoid data collection
If you are using Gemini in Chrome, then you can get partly control by changing some settings.
- Go to Settings> AI Innovations> Gemini in Chrome and check its activity.
- Do not let the data saving be more than 72 hours by going to “Gemini Apps Activity”.
- Manually control the permission like location and camera in the setting of the phone.
What is your privacy left
Cyber experts say that “free tools” like Gemini and Nano Banana are not actually free. Their business model is that your information becomes the real product. That is, the more you use these tools, the more your data will go to the company and other platforms.
