YouTube, owned by Google, has agreed to pay around Rs 217 crore to US President Donald Trump to resolve a case. The case started in January 2021, when YouTube closed Trump’s channel after the violence on Capital Hill. The company said that Trump’s videos were violating his policy, while Trump said that YouTube is politically biased and wants to suppress the voice of Conservatives. Now this case will end after reconciliation.
Trump had sued
Trump sued YouTube and said that an attempt was being made to suppress his voice. Actually, YouTube had closed Trump’s channel after a strike and also disabled the comment section. At that time Trump had about 27 lakh followers and used to upload videos on the channel continuously. However, while closing the channel, YouTube did not say which video of his was against the rules. Trump’s lawyers reached the court with this. Let us know that the news of the satisfaction has come at a time when YouTube announced a few days ago that it is lifting the ban from the channels closed after the Corona epidemic and Capital Hill violence.
Now YouTube will pay $ 24.5 million to Trump
Under the agreement, YouTube Trump will pay a total of $ 24.5 million. Of these, $ 22 million will be repaid to non-profit group Trust for the National Mall, which is building a new ballroom in the White House. Apart from this, $ 2.5 million will be repaid to organizations and individuals who were with Trump in the case.
