This is the world’s first camera that can take a photo inside the body, know what is technology



Perovskite Camera: Nuclear medicine techniques such as spect scan have been helping doctors to see heartbeat, blood flow and hidden diseases in the body. But the detectors used in these scanners are very expensive and complex. Now researchers at Northwestern University (USA) and Sujho University (China) have created the world’s first Perovskite-based detector which will make the Gama Rage very accurately and make the spect imaging even more clean, economical and safe.

Why is Perovskite special?

Perovskite Crystals have previously revolutionized solar energy and are now being used in medical imaging. The research team says that detectors made of this technology will not only give more accurate images but patients will get less radiation and small scan from time to time.

Lacks of old detectors

  • So far, detectors made from CZT (cadmium zinc teluride) and NAI (sodium iodide) crystals are used.
  • Price up to millions of dollars, difficult to make and extremely delicate.
  • Cheap but heavy and image is not as clear, as if looking with blurred glass.
  • Scientists rely on perovskite crystals to remove these boundaries.

Record break imaging capacity

For the first time in 2013, it was proved that Perovskite Crystals could identify gamma rays and X-rays. Now taking this technique forward, researchers have made a pixel-based sensor, exactly like a smartphone camera pixels. This sensor gave the best energy resolution ever. Also captured very light signals, which showed finely to fine details in clinical scanners. The scan became fast, stable and safe.

How patients will benefit

Detectors made of new Perovskite cameras are more sensitive, so patients.

Scan will have to be scanned for a short time, a dose of low radiation will be given and doctors will get a clean diagnostic image.
