After winning the Player of the Series award in the recent Test matches against the West Indies, Ravindra Jadeja has declared himself available for the Ranji Trophy. Jadeja, who has scored two triple centuries in domestic cricket, has been included in Saurashtra’s squad for the next match against Rajat Patidar’s Madhya Pradesh starting October 25 in Rajkot. Jadeja has been available ever since he was dropped from the India ODI squad which is currently playing a 3-match ODI series in Australia.
BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar chose Akshar Patel instead of Jadeja as India did not include extra spinners in Australia. Interestingly, Jadeja has not been made the captain of Saurashtra, but Jaydev Unadkat is taking over. Jadeja was recently named India’s vice-captain against the West Indies as Shubman Gill’s replacement Rishabh Pant was ruled out due to injury.
Ranji Trophy match to prepare for the South Africa Test series
Although he may be considered a defensive bowler in SENA countries, Jadeja’s performance in Asia has been outstanding. This left-arm spinner in particular has taken his batting to a new level. So he is very important for the upcoming Test matches against South Africa from November 14. To continue his match practice and stay in rhythm, Jadeja is eyeing the Ranji Trophy. Big names will wear the India A jersey in the upcoming Ranji Trophy while Jadeja will be one of the main attractions of the Ranji Trophy. He will form a dangerous pair with Dharminder Singh Jadeja, who has been consistently performing with the ball. In 47 Ranji Trophy matches for Saurashtra, Jadeja has scored 3,456 runs at an average of 57.60 and taken 208 wickets at an average of 21.25.
A record will be made against Africa
Ravindra Jadeja is very close to achieving a historic milestone by completing 4000 Test runs in the series against South Africa. If he scores 10 more runs, he will become the second Indian and the fourth player in the world after Kapil Dev to complete the double record of 4000+ runs and 300+ wickets. Only three players in history have achieved the dual record of 4,000+ Test runs and 300+ wickets. Topping the list is England’s Ian Botham, who scored 5,200 Test runs and took 383 Test wickets. The second name in this list is former Indian great Kapil Dev, who scored 5,248 runs and took 434 wickets in Test matches. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori also scored 4,531 runs and took 362 wickets. Talking about Jadeja’s statistics, Jadeja has so far scored 3990 runs and taken 338 wickets.
