India’s ODI vice-captain Shreyas Iyer, who suffered an injury to his spleen, has been moved out of the ICU and is in a stable condition at a Sydney hospital.
According to a latest report on Tuesday, the 30-year-old batsman’s health is now improving, meaning Shrews is now on the mend and has been moved out of the ICU.
“Indian ODI vice-captain Shreyas Iyer has been discharged from the ICU and is in a stable condition at a hospital in Sydney,” BCCI sources said.
He suffered a serious injury during the third and final ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday, which India eventually won by nine wickets.
Updating curious fans about Iyer’s injury and his health status, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared an official update on Monday morning on X.
“Shrews Iyer sustained an injury while fielding during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney on October 25, 2025. He was taken to hospital for a check-up,” the BCCI statement read.
“Scans have revealed a serious injury. He is under treatment, stable, and recovering. The BCCI medical team, in consultation with experts in Sydney and India, is closely monitoring his injury status. The Indian team will be in Sydney with Dr Shreyas to assess his progress on a daily basis,” it added.
