New Delhi By defeating the Australian women’s team in the semifinals of the Women’s World Cup 2025, India have not only secured a place in the finals but also bagged a prize money worth crores of rupees. With a record run-chase of 339 runs, the Indian women’s team has now earned around Rs 20 crore (Rs 19,85,39,040). The team led by Harmanpreet Kaur is not satisfied with this amount. Their dream is to defeat South Africa in the final and win the Women’s World Cup for the first time. If India succeeds in this, they will be paid around Rs 40 crore (Rs 39,70,91,520) for winning the World Cup, according to the new ICC rules.
116 crore rupees will be distributed among eight teams
Now, men’s and women’s teams receive equal prize money for winning and finishing as runners-up in the World Cup. ICC has announced a record increase in prize money for this Women’s World Cup. The total prize money for this tournament to be held in India and Sri Lanka has been set at 13.88 million USD or approximately ₹116 crore. This is a 297 percent increase over the previous edition played in New Zealand in 2022. At that time, the total prize money was $3.5 million. The prize money for this Women’s World Cup has also surpassed the 2023 Men’s World Cup, which had a prize money of $10 million. The decision is part of the ICC’s “Gender Pay Equity Policy”, which emphasizes equal financial recognition for players in both men’s and women’s tournaments.
How much money will Australia and England get?
This time, it was already announced that the winning team would receive $4.48 million, or approximately ₹39.7 crore, while the runner-up would receive $2.24 million, or approximately ₹19.8 crore.
