SC refuses to relax GRAP-4 curbs unless AQI shows consistent downward trend: The Supreme Court has refused to relax the restrictions imposed under the fourth phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to deal with air pollution in the national capital. The court said that the sanctions will continue until the AQI level comes down.

Justices Abhay S Oka and Augustine George Masih asked the chief secretaries of NCR states to appear through video conferencing on December 5 to state whether construction work has stopped due to restrictions and whether any stipend has been given to the construction workers without work due to restrictions. gone or not

It has to be mentioned that in Delhi-NCR, between October and December, the residents of the area have to fight with air pollution.

The bench also said that there was no complete coordination between the Delhi government, Delhi Police, Delhi Municipal Corporation and the Pollution Control Committee in implementing the restrictions. The Supreme Court said it will hear all parties on December 5 on whether or not to relax GRAP IV restrictions. Earlier, the Supreme Court had said that despite the orders, policemen were not posted at all the entry points of Delhi, and at the entry points that were posted, they were not even instructed to take action to prevent pollution. The court said that the police was deployed only on November 23. The apex court had said that the restrictions will continue until the air quality in Delhi and surrounding areas improves. After this, the Delhi Police intensified the checking of vehicles on the borders of Delhi and ensured that prohibited and polluting vehicles do not enter the borders of Delhi.
