1984 anti-Sikh riots: The Supreme Court has sought a response from the CBI on Balwan Khokhar’s plea seeking suspension of sentence in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case. A bench of Justices JK Maheshwari and Rajesh Bindal asked the CBI to file a reply to Khokhar’s plea seeking suspension of sentence.
A petition in this regard was filed by Balwan Khokhar through advocate Rakesh Dahiya. He informed the apex court that the jail authorities had rejected the application only on September 26, 2024 which is completely wrong.
It is to be noted that Khokhar has challenged the High Court’s order of December 17, 2018, in which Khokhar, Sajjan Kumar and others were convicted under various sections of the Indian Penal Code in the case and sentenced to life imprisonment. are being cut and are detained in Central Jail, Tihar, Delhi. Earlier the lower court had convicted him.
Khokhar claimed in his application that he is a 66-year-old senior citizen and has 54 percent non-functioning of his lower limbs. Apart from this, he is also suffering from many other serious diseases. ANI
