A dharna was held outside Kotbhai police station by the Punjab Agricultural Workers Union to punish the accused who beat up a laborer named Rahul, a resident of village Khoonan Khurd. The family members of the victim said that their son was returning home from work in the evening on November 19, when some people from the village brutally beat him up and called the police by calling 112. And the police admitted Rahul to the government hospital. During the dharna today, the labor leaders alleged that the police is trying to save the accused for political reasons. The leaders of Khet Mazdoor Union, Raja Singh, Kala Singh Khoonan Khurd announced that if they do not get justice, they will stage a dharna again on December 13. Police Station Kotbhai Chief Jasveer Singh said that according to the MLR received from the Civil Hospital, appropriate action has been taken.
