Ceremony on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day

On the occasion of the 76th Armed Forces Flag Day of the country, a function was organized here today, which was started by UT. It was done by presenting the flag to Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria by the Military Welfare Officers of Chandigarh. On this occasion, Mr. Kataria has sanctioned two lakh rupees for the ex-servicemen of Punjab and Chandigarh and their families. Among the prominent personalities present on this occasion, J.M. Balamurugan, Additional Chief Secretary DSW. Punjab, Brigadier Bhupinder Singh (Retd) Director DSW-cum-Secretary State Military Board Punjab, Commander Baljinder Virk (Retd), Deputy Director (Headquarters) and Colonel Jarnail Singh (Retd), OSD, State Sainik Board Punjab and Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman District Sainik Board, Nitish Kumar Yadav and Colonel HS Ghuman UT. Chandigarh was also included. Talking about the welfare of the armed forces community, the Governor said that ‘Armed Forces Flag Day’ is a symbol of our collective gratitude towards the sacrifices of our soldiers, who protect the sovereignty and integrity of our country. It is our duty to extend support to their families in every possible way. Initiatives to benefit ex-servicemen, widows of servicemen and their dependents are part of the same duty.
