The Canadian government has taken another step to block the passage of immigrants. The Trudeau government has drastically increased the fees from December 1 for all those who want to reach here, including international students immigration.
This decision is being considered as a big blow for Punjabis and with this decision, their dream of studying and living abroad may be broken. Experts believe that due to increase in application fees, processing fees may also double. The application fees that the Government of Canada has announced to increase include student, visitor visa, temporary residence, new study permit, work permit, etc. However, there is no guarantee that these categories can get a visa.
In fact, from December 1, there will be an increase in application and processing fees for visitors, workers and students coming to Canada. This will have the greatest impact on those people of Punjab, who are studying or working in an organization in Canada. The Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC) in Canada has increased the fees for many applications for temporary residents.
It is worth noting that the federal government recently significantly reduced the number of permanent residents entering Canada over the next two years and tightened the rules on temporary worker permits. Statistics provided by Canadian authorities show that the average wait time for refugee and asylum claims to be processed is about 44 months.
Immigration Minister Mark Miller, appearing before a parliamentary committee, said the asylum system was not working properly and had to be completely overhauled. The Immigration and Refugee Board had more than 260,000 asylum claims under consideration by the end of October, and the number is still rising.
