The case was registered in 2016

About 8 years ago, on 25 June 2016, an incident of desecration of Quran Sharif took place in Malerkotla. Police had registered a case against unknown persons in Police Station City-1 Malerkotla. During the investigation, Vijay Kumar, Nand Kishore and Gaurav Kumar were arrested on 27 June 2016. During his interrogation, AAP MLA from Delhi Naresh Yadav was named in the case and arrested on 24 July 2016.

This is how the sentence was pronounced

In this case, the court acquitted him on 16 March 2021. But as soon as he was acquitted, the opposite party filed an appeal in the district court. The hearing of this case continued for three and a half years. After this, the last court on Saturday evening sentenced Naresh Kumar to two years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5000 under IPC section 295A, two years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5000 under 153A and 6 months’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1000 under 120B. The sentence was pronounced.
