Police station Bahavwala in Abohar, Fazilka district of Punjab, during patrolling yesterday evening, arrested two people with thirty kilos of poppy and registered a case against them under sections 15, 61, 85 of NDPS. Since both were unemployed, they took up drug trafficking.

Started running away after seeing the police
According to the information, Assistant SHO Gurmeet Singh along with the police team was patrolling the village Narayan Pura Link Road yesterday evening. On the way, two youths were coming with plastic bags in their hands, who got scared after seeing the police team and started using the said bags. They threw the poppy seeds and started running away. The police overpowered both the youths and searched the bags, and 30 kg of poppy seeds were recovered from them.
The arrested youths have been identified as Vijay and Malkit, residents of Narayanpura.

Police officials said that the arrested youth were presented in the court today and police remand has been taken for two days. Who will be strictly interrogated. During preliminary inquiry, it was revealed that they ran the business of selling poppy seeds to earn their living and they used to bring poppy seeds from Rajasthan at cheap prices and make puris and sell them here at expensive prices.
Both of them were engaged in selling poppy for a long time, out of which Malkit already has several cases registered against him.
