‘City Beautiful’ Chandigarh is no longer good for those who put up illegal and absurd advertisement boards/sign boards. Taking serious note of the increasing number of advertisements and signboards against the provisions of the Chandigarh Advertisement Control Order, 1954, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Amit Kumar has issued strict instructions to the enforcement wing of the corporation to remove such signboards that are tarnishing the beauty of the city. are
Under these orders, directions have been issued to conduct a special drive and confiscation across the city to prevent unauthorized advertisements in the city. Commissioner Amit Kumar instructed the team of the enforcement wing of the corporation that no violator will be spared during the special campaign. He also directed that unauthorized advertisements be seized during the campaign and fined as per the provisions of the Chandigarh Advertisement Control Order-1954. Such signboards installed in markets and other public places of almost the entire city are spoiling the appearance of the city. The commissioner said that in view of the increasing number of illegal advertisements and signboards in the city, he directed strict enforcement of the Chandigarh Advertisement Control Order, 1954. He said that during this action of the corporation, unauthorized signs and advertisement boards will be seized and fined as per rules. The municipal corporation had issued a public notice on November 24, under which violators of the rules regarding the installation of signboards were informed to remove all such advertisement boards, which have not been approved by the competent authority.
