Ajay Kumar Bhalla took oath as the Governor of Manipur

Former Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla was sworn in by the 19th Governor of Manipur during a function held at the Raj Bhavan here today. Manipur High Court Chief Justice D. Krishnakumar administered the oath to Bhalla. After this, he also inspected the guard of honor of the Manipur Rifles personnel. Bhalla completed his five-year career as Union Home Secretary in August last year. He is the first person to hold this position for so long. He is a retired IAS officer of 1984 batch of Assam-Meghalaya cadre. President Draupadi Murmu had appointed Bhalla as the Governor of Manipur last month. Earlier Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya had the additional charge of Manipur. Bhalla reached Imphal on Thursday and Chief Minister N. Biren welcomed him at Raj Bhavan. -News-Patiala
