The year of 2025 is very special for the smartphone industry. Apple introduced the iPhone Air at its recent “Awe Dropping” event which is directly competing with Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. Both phones have come with very thin, premium and attractive designs, but the question is, which of these is better? Let’s know the comparison between the two.
Design and build quality
The iPhone Air is the thinnest iPhone ever with thickness between 5.5mm to 5.6mm. It is also thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge with a thickness of 5.8mm. Both have been given titanium frame and glass back but Apple has used Ceramic Shield 2 in it while Samsung has installed Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. Talking about weight, the iPhone Air is only 145 grams while the S25 Edge weighs 163 grams. That is, the iPhone Air goes ahead in portability.
Display
Both phones come with great OLED display. The iPhone Air has a 6.6-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2740 x 1260 pixels. On the other hand, the Galaxy S25 Edge has a 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display that supports QHD+ (1440 x 3120 pixels) resolution.
The biggest feature of iPhone Air is its 3000 Nits Peak Brightness which has not been found in any iPhone till now. Both phones give 120Hz refresh rates but the new metaalens of iPhone Air with a small camera cutout gives it a more premium look.
Camera setup
The avenues of the two are different in the camera segment. The iPhone Air has just a single rear camera of 48MP which is placed in the Plateau Bump Design. At the same time, Galaxy S25 Edge has a 200MP primary sensor and 12MP ultra-wide lens. Talking about the selfie camera, the iPhone Air has an 18MP front camera in which AI Center Stage feature of Apple is available. Samsung has given a 12MP front camera in S25 Edge. That is, Samsung is ahead in terms of camera versatiability but Apple focuses on simplicity and AI features.
Performance
The iPhone Air has a new A19 or A19 Pro chipset of Apple which gives strong performance and better efficiency. It is also accompanied by 12GB RAM and new C1 modem. The Galaxy S25 Edge has Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipset and 12GB RAM. Both processors are of flagship level but talking about raw performance, the A19 chip of Apple is being considered a little further.
Battery and price
The biggest disadvantage of ultra-thin design falls on the battery capacity. The iPhone Air has only 2800mAh battery while Samsung has fit the 3900mAh battery in S25 Edge. Samsung is clearly better in terms of battery backup. Talking about the price, the initial price of iPhone Air is $ 999 (Rs 1,19,900) while the price of Galaxy S25 Edge starts from Rs 1,09,999. That is, the iPhone is a bit expensive but the Apple brand value and new features make it premium.
