Arvind Kejriwal: Delhi High Court refuses to hear Kejriwal’s petition early

Excise policy: Delhi HC refuses to prepone hearing on Kejriwal’s plea in money laundering case : The Delhi High Court has refused to hear the plea challenging the lower court’s notice against Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal in the money laundering case under the excise policy. Mr. Kejriwal had approached the High Court after the charge sheet was filed against him. Kejriwal has requested the High Court to quash the trial court’s order as no sanction was sought to prosecute the former Delhi Chief Minister.

Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri said, ‘This matter will be heard on the same date (December 20). I have many pending hearings.’ It has to be mentioned that Kejriwal had demanded that the date of hearing on his petition be made before December 20.

After the court refused to change the date, Kejriwal’s counsel pleaded that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) be directed to supply a copy of the reply to the petition in advance. The court told the ED lawyer, ‘Whatever file you file, give them a copy too. It may be mentioned that on November 21, the High Court had refused to stay the proceedings of the lower court against Kejriwal in the money laundering case. The High Court had issued a notice on the petition of the former Chief Minister of Delhi and sought a response from the ED.
