Indian cricket team bowling coach Morne Morkel has said that all-rounders like Shivam Dubey will prove to be important for India in the preparations for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Morkel believes that all -rounders like Dubey, who can bowl four overs, give the team additional bowling options, which also benefit the team in difficult situations.
The Indian team has gone to play Asia Cup in UAE. Team India will start their campaign against UAE from 10 September.
Morkel said- I ask to work hard on both batting-bowling During the Net session of Team India at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Monday, Morkel said, ‘It is important for me that players like Shivam Dubey can bowl four overs. I always inspire all -rounders to work hard on both his skills (batting and bowling). Many times players pay more attention to one skill in practice and ignore the other. But we do not want to leave any stone unturned.
Shivam Dubey is also a medium fast bowler along with batter.
Benefits of bowling options Morkel said that additional bowling options can support India under the circumstances when the chief bowlers are robbing runs. He said, ‘Someday we may need a player who can complete the work. The circumstances of that day can be more favorable for a player. So we have to adopt a professional attitude. It is a matter of taking responsibility and doing quality work, so that when captain Suryakumar Yadav gives you the ball, you are ready.
Strategy in Asia Cup may be different In the Champions Trophy, India surprised everyone with four specialist spinners – Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakraborty, Akshar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja.
Morkel indicated that the strategy in the Asia Cup in Dubai and Abu Dhabi may be different, as there may be the effect of grass and dew on the pitches there. He said, ‘We have to look at the pitch. A lot of cricket was played here at the time of the Champions Trophy. I think there is a lot of grass on the pitches.
‘Before the first match starts, we will understand which strategy will be better. For now, we are covering every aspect and will take a final decision on the match day.
How to get ready for white ball cricket, Kuldeep knows- Morkel Morkel expressed sympathy at Kuldeep Yadav did not get any match in the Test series against England. He said, ‘Kuldeep is a very professional player. He barely got some game time on the tour of England, but despite this he continued to work hard. Kuldeep has thrown a lot of overs in his career. They know how to get ready for T20 and white-ball cricket.
He further said, ‘We can only control what is in our hands. Our focus remains when we practice. We set goals and players are given the responsibility of achieving those goals.
