Pakistan’s middle order batter Asif Ali has retired from international cricket at the age of 33. However, he will continue to play in domestic cricket and franchise league around the world. Asif played 21 ODIs and 58 T20 International matches.
He won Pakistan by playing a stormy innings of 25 runs in seven balls against Afghanistan in the 2021 T20 World Cup.
Announcing his retirement on social media, Asif said, wearing Pakistan’s jersey has been the biggest honor of my life and serving my country on the cricket field has been my proud chapter.
Thanks for trust and support Asif further wrote, thank my fans, colleagues and coaches, thank you for your love, trust and support in every ups and down. My family and friends, who in moments of happiness and in difficult situations, including the death of my beloved daughter during the World Cup, stood with me, your strength carried me forward.
Stop away from international cricket since 2023 Asif scored 58 T20 International 577 runs for Pakistan. In 21 ODIs, he scored 382 runs at an average of 25.46, including three half -centuries. For Pakistan, he played the last ODI against Australia in Lahore in April 2022 while he played his last international match in August 2023 at the Asian Games in T20 format against Bangladesh.
