State Revenue and Rehabilitation Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and AAP Senior Vice President Amansher Singh while addressing the convention held at Dana Mandi here today on the invitation of various labor unions associated with the Center of Indian Trade Unions (CITU). Sherry Kalsi assured to accept all the demands placed before him by the labor leaders. He said that this is the first time that the government has personally reached out to know the problems and demands of the workers. He assured the labor leaders that soon Labor Department Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond will take appropriate action to resolve the demands by calling the labor leaders in a meeting of senior officials of the department.
Despite the cold and rain, a large number of women and workers attended the convention. In the convention presided over by labor leaders Daljit Kumar Gora, Amarnath Koomkalan, Amritpal Kaur, Vijay Kumar, Gurdev Singh Kalsan, Parkash Singh Brahmi, CITU State General Secretary Sathi Chandra Shekhar presented the burning demands of the workers before the State Revenue Minister Hardeep Singh Mundia. Gave the details and appealed to accept the demands.
CITU General Secretary Chandra Shekhar thanked the state government for taking the initiative to personally reach out to the workers to know about their demands. He also thanked AAP working president Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi for showing keen interest in labor demands. He expressed special thanks for taking action on the demands of the construction workers. He said that the leading officials of the departments should be bound to take action in a timely manner to implement the labor demands. They demanded that the daily wages of MNREGA workers be equal to Rs 441 12 paise as farm labourers. He also demanded to bind the block development officers to give 100 days work to all the workers as per MNREGA law and to conduct an awareness campaign for the newly elected sarpanches. It also demanded implementation of time-bound schemes for implementation of the 2014 scheme and law for the welfare of street and ferry workers and creation of a comprehensive welfare scheme for tempo drivers, including unorganized sector drivers. Demanded immediate implementation of gratuity to Anganwadi workers as per Supreme Court verdict, equal wages and benefits to workers working under contract system as regular workers. Many officials of the Labor Department were also present on this occasion.
