The members of the Shiromani Committee said in the demand letter that Sachkhand Sri Sachkhand Sri was attacked by a person named Narayan Singh on December 4 on Sukhbir Singh Badal who was performing the religious service from Sri Akal Takht Sahib at the entrance of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. The bullet hit on the Dewdhi pillar of Harmandir Sahib has hurt the heart. He said that while this attack is an insult to the orders of Sri Akal Takht, it is also a major desecration of the central religious place of the Sikhs and a cowardly act that destroys its spirituality.
An attack on such a holy place is going to hurt the sentiments of crores of pilgrims. He said that the pain of the military attack on this shrine by the Congress government in June 1984 is not being forgotten by the Sikh world and now with this latest move the Sikhs have once again suffered mental pain. Repentance of the blasphemy caused by the bullet and apologizing to Guru Sahib is a necessary practice to follow.
The Shiromani Committee office-bearers appealed to the Jathedar that the Panj Singh Sahibs should consider the matter and take necessary action to expel the person who committed the heinous incident from the Panth.
