B.Tech degree from NIT, quit Public Service Commission office, now peon turned Assistant Commissioner

CGPSC Success Story: Desire for government job (Sarkari Naukri) is such that one can do anything to get it. A similar story is that of a boy who worked as a peon in Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) office despite having a mechanical engineering degree and now he has successfully cleared the CGPSC exam. They have achieved this position due to their hard work and dedication. He cleared CGPSC in his fifth attempt and became Assistant Commissioner (State Tax). His name is Shailendra Kumar Bandhe.

Did B.Tech from NIT

29-year-old Shailendra (Shailendra Kumar Bandhe), who belongs to a farming family from Bitkuli village in Bilaspur district, was clear about his goal since childhood. After completing his schooling in Raipur, he obtained a B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) degree from NIT Raipur. Despite having the option of a well-paying private job, they dreamed of joining government services and did not attend the placement session.

Obtained 73rd rank in CGPSC
Shailendra says he started preparing for civil services after taking inspiration from one of his seniors from NIT Raipur, Himachal Sahu, who had secured the top rank in CGPSC-2015. However, in the beginning they had to face many failures. Even after failing the preliminary examination in the first attempt, he did not lose heart. Despite reaching the main examination in the second attempt and the interview in the third and fourth attempts, he was far from successful. But in the 5th attempt, he achieved his dream by securing 73rd rank (General category) and 2nd position in reserved category.

Beginning of beautification of life with peon job
Shailendra joined the CGPSC office as a peon in May 2023 to help the family financially while preparing for civil services. During this time he faced taunts and criticisms but he did not let his confidence weaken. Shailendra believes that no job is big or small, be it a peon or a deputy collector, every job should be done with integrity and responsibility. This thought of theirs
makes the story of struggle and success even more inspiring.

Strong family support
Shailendra credits his success to his parents, who supported him in every difficulty. His father Santram Bandhe is a farmer. He said that my son is an inspiration to all those who are working hard to get government jobs and serve the country.
