President Draupadi Murmu on Thursday presented the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to 17 children who have shown extraordinary courage and bravery and outstanding achievements in various fields including arts, culture and sports. have done The award is given for outstanding achievements in seven categories including arts and culture, bravery, innovation, science and technology, social service, sports and environment.
Seven boys and 10 girls selected from 14 states and Union Territories were awarded a medal, certificate and a testimonial. Among the awardees are 14-year-old disabled writer Kaya Hatkar, 12-year-old sufi singer from Kashmir Ayan Sajad, 17-year-old Vyas Om Jignesh, who is suffering from a disease called ‘cerebral palsy’. This honor has been given to Jignesh for his contribution to Sanskrit literature.
In the bravery category, nine-year-old Sourav Kumar was honored for saving three girls from drowning, while 17-year-old Iona Thapa was honored for saving 36 residents of a flat from a fire. Sindhura Raja (15) and cyber security entrepreneur Rishik Kumar (17) were awarded for innovation.
In the sports category, judo player Hemvati Nag, chess player Anish Sarkar and 10-year-old mountaineer Sanvi Sood from Rupnagar (Punjab) were awarded the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award. President Murmu congratulated the awardees and emphasized their role in inspiring a generation to excel and contribute to society.
On this occasion, the President also paid tribute to Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, for their unparalleled sacrifice, whose martyrdom day is celebrated as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ on 26th December and in this connection The awards were presented today.
President Murmu said, “The sacrifices they made for religion and self-respect will continue to inspire countless generations. On this day, the nation bows its head in respect to their bravery and courage.”
