In his statement to the police, married Arshpreet Kaur’s father Ajmer Singh told that he has a son and four daughters. Younger daughter Arshpreet Kaur was married to Balwinder Singh resident of Baba Farid Nagar Bathinda on 11 October this year. Within a few days of the marriage, the in-laws family started harassing the girl. Today her in-laws informed her that the girl is admitted in a hospital in Bathinda and her condition is critical. When the family reached Bathinda from Bhadour, they came to know that the girl had died.

On the statement of Ajmer Singh in Bathinda Cantt Police Station, the police have registered a case under 80, 3 (5) against the girl’s husband Balwinder Singh, father-in-law Darshan Singh, girl’s mother-in-law Banat Kaur and sister-in-law. The family alleges that the girl was strangled to death. After post-mortem, the girl was cremated in Bhadaud.
