AAP’s state working president and Batala MLA Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi while talking to reporters here said that Punjab’s second oldest cooperative sugar mill Batala has been upgraded from 1200 TCD to 3500 TCD at a cost of Rs 330 crore by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Due to its capacity, it has fulfilled the decades-old demand of the farmers of the area. He said that along with Sugar Mill Batala, village Bahadurpur is the first village in Punjab where a pipeline has been laid to deliver bio cooking gas from house to house. The mill is equipped with the latest technology available worldwide and will greatly benefit the sugarcane growers of Batala region. He said that this new project of Cooperative Sugar Mill Batala will increase the area under sugarcane cultivation in the area and it will also create new employment opportunities for the youth. Sherry Kalsi said that the mill is aiming to crush 35 lakh quintals of sugarcane during the current season and is an environment friendly plant.
