Farmers associated with BKU Ugrahan staged a protest outside the government hospital today demanding compensation after the death of a woman in a bus accident in Bathinda. Farmer leaders have demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family and a government job.

Let us tell you that Paramjeet Kaur, a resident of Chuggewala village of Bathinda, had died in a bus accident. Paramjeet Kaur was going to her maternal home in Hukamanwali village of Haryana with her two daughters. However, one of his daughters courageously saved her younger sister and herself came out of the clutches of death.

Daughter Gagandeep Kaur told that she took the help of the pipe of the bus and saved her younger sister by taking her in her lap. He also tried his best to take his mother out and held her hand, but unfortunately his mother’s life could not be saved.

The deceased’s husband Prem Kumar told that his wife was going to her maternal home. She was going to take her four daughters along, but two daughters refused to go to their parents’ home. For this reason she went with only two daughters.

The deceased’s husband also told that his wife used to help him in running the house. She used to cook rotis in weddings and other functions. The villagers have appealed to the government for help for this family, because there were six daughters in this family, out of which one has died and one was adopted by a relative. Now the deceased and her husband used to raise four daughters together.

The incident has thrown the family into deep trouble, and the villagers are demanding financial assistance from the government. On the other hand, BKU Ugrahan staged a protest outside Talwandi Sabo Government Hospital demanding compensation to the families of the deceased.

Farmer leader Jagdev Singh Lelewala said that he is standing with the family until every family gets compensation of Rs 10 lakh and one member gets a job. He said that the Central Government has announced compensation, whereas the Punjab Government has not yet understood the plight of the family, leave alone compensation.
