Farmers burning effigy of PM Modi in Bathinda

Punjab bandh was called today by the non-political United Kisan Morcha. Supporting the bandh, protest marches were taken out in the villages and effigies of the Modi government were burnt. Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Ugrahan also raised slogans against the central government in Bathinda’s Dana Mandi.

Farmers took out a protest march in the city and burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi near Bathinda Deputy Commissioner’s office in the afternoon. On this occasion, State Vice President of Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Ugrahan, Shingara Singh Mann said that effigies are being burnt in the ongoing struggle to fulfill the remaining demands of the farmers’ movement.

He said that he is grateful to all sections of the people for making today’s bandh successful, because this fight is not of farmers alone, the Central Government is doing everything. The rights of all classes are being attacked by the government.

He told that a Mahapanchayat is being organized by the United Kisan Morcha in Haryana on January 4 and a Mahapanchayat will be held in Moga, Punjab on January 9. He said that farmers are angry against the anti-people policies of the Centre.
