New Delhi: The Indian team on the tour of Australia has lost the ODI series. Australia has taken an unbeaten 2-0 lead after winning two ODIs in a row. The last match is scheduled to be played in Sydney on October 25, after which the T20 series will begin from October 29. However, before that there has been a major change in the Australian team.
Cricket Australia has announced several changes to its ODI and five-match T20 squad. New South Wales all-rounder Jack Edwards has been included in the ODI squad ahead of the third ODI. Top-order batsman Marnus Labuschagne has been released from the ODI squad to prepare for Queensland’s Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales.
Matthew Kuhneman, who was part of the first ODI but missed the second match due to Adam Zampa’s withdrawal, has also been included in the squad for the third ODI. Australia has also made several changes in the T20 team.
Also, a major blow for the hosts could be that the likes of Josh Hazlewood and Sean Abbott will miss the final leg of the T20I series against India and will instead play in the fourth round of the Shield match. Hazlewood will play the first two T20Is, while Abbott will be out of the squad after the third T20I.
Top all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will return for the final three T20 matches of the series, while Ben Dwarshuis will also return for the final two T20 matches.
