A BCCI review meeting was awaited after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s poor performance in the Border Gavaskar Trophy played in Australia. Virat hasn’t played a Ranji Trophy match since November 2012. He last played a domestic tournament for Delhi in 2013.

News-Patiala has informed that the BCCI has instructed star players to play in domestic matches. The BCCI has made it clear that players who want to play Test cricket will have to play Ranji Trophy matches. The red-ball tournament will resume from January 23. The India-England ODI series is going to start from February 6. Virat and Rohit may play at least one Ranji Trophy match before the England series.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were seen struggling to score runs in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Despite scoring a century in the first match of the series, Kohli scored only 190 runs in 5 matches. Rohit Sharma did not play the first and last Test match. He scored only 31 runs in 3 matches.
News-Patiala has informed that henceforth players will not be able to pick and drop bilateral series. He will have to give a valid medical report to leave the series. Several senior Indian players had earlier decided to sit out the bilateral series to rest voluntarily.
