1. Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik passed away
On August 5, former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik passed away.
Satyapal Malik breathed his last at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi at 1:20 pm.
- He was 79 years old and was struggling with kidney, lungs, and urine related problems.
- Malik was the 10th and last governor of Jammu and Kashmir from August 23, 2018 to October 30, 2019.
- During his tenure, Article 370 and 35A were canceled on August 5, 2019, after which Jammu and Kashmir was made a union territory.
- In 1974, he became an MLA from Baghpat on a ticket of Chaudhary Charan Singh’s Indian Revolution Dal (BKD) and later he was the General Secretary of the Rashtriya Lok Dal.
- Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh from 1980-86 and 1986-89 and Lok Sabha MP from Aligarh from Janata Dal till 1989-91.
- He joined the BJP in 2004 and became the party’s national vice president in 2012.
- He was the Governor of Bihar (2017-18), Jammu and Kashmir (2018-19), Goa (2019-20), and Meghalaya (2020-22).
2. Jaguar Land Rover P.B. Balaji appointed CEO
On August 4, the Tata Group owned luxury car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover P.B. Announced to appoint Balaji as his next Chief Executive Officer i.e. CEO.
Balaji will take over as CEO of Jaguar Land Rover in November 2025.
- P.B. Balaji is the first Indian to become CEO of luxury British carmaker company.
- Balaji will replace the current CEO Adrian Mardal.
- He is currently the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Tata Motors Group and has been working in the post since November 2017.
- P.B. Balaji in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras (1991). And has done PG Diploma in Management from IIM Kolkata (1993).
- He started his career with Unilever in 1995 and has served as Senior Corporate Finance in India, Singapore, UK and Switzerland.
- As of 2017, he was also the post of Chief Financial Officer of Hindustan Unilever Limited.

Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board i.e. DSSSB has issued a notification for 615 posts of Naib Tehsildar and others. The application process for this recruitment is starting from August 18. Candidates can apply by visiting the official website dssb.delhi.gov.in.
Educational qualification: According to the post, 10th, 12th, BA, BCom, B.Ed., BSc, BTech, BE Diploma, Post Graduation Degree, MBA, PGDM, MCA, PG Diploma
Edge Limit:
- Minimum: 18 years
- Maximum: 27 years
- The reserved category candidates will be given exemption in the maximum age limit as per government rules.
Fees:
- General, OBC, EWS: Rs 100
- All other reserved class candidates (SC/ST/PH) and Women: Free
Salary:

1. Ban on NEET UG Counseling 2025
On August 5, the Medical Counseling Committee i.e. MCC has temporarily stopped the first round of NEET UG 2025 choice filling and choice locking facility. The committee has not given any reason for this ban.
MCC wrote on its official website, ‘First round choice filling and choice locking have been stopped. Revised schedule will be announced soon.
Earlier, MCC started the registration window and choice filling process for NEET UG 2025 counseling from July 21.
2. Jaisalmer community raised strong objection to a map in NCERT book
The Jaisalmer community has raised strong objections to a map in the NCERT class 8 social science book. In this map, Jaisalmer is shown part of the Maratha Empire in the 18th century.
The map has been published on Unit 3 page No. 71 of the social science book of class 8.
The community alleges that it is historically misleading, factually baseless and objectionable.
Chaitanya Raj Singh of the erstwhile Jaisalmer royal family has filed his protest by tweeting on the social media platform X.
