BN Goswami contributed significantly to the development of art: Gurbachan Jagat

A basketball court equipped with modern facilities was inaugurated today at News-Patiala School Sector-29 here. This court is designed on synthetic turf. It will also have the facility to play matches under floodlights. Gurbachan Jagat, Trustee of ‘The News-Patiala Trust’, former Governor of Manipur and Co-Chairman of the School Management Committee attended as the chief guest on this occasion. On this occasion, the former president of ‘The News-Patiala Trust’ and the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, besides Justice SS Sodhi, late Dr. BN Goswami’s grandson Madhav Goswami also attended. On this occasion Mr. Jagat, historian Dr. Recalling the contribution made by BN Goswami in the development of the city and art, he said that the Goswami family is also doing many exemplary works to carry forward their legacy. He said that BN Goswami and he had studied from the same college in Hoshiarpur and Goswami was popular among all parties in the college at that time. He resigned from the civil services job for two years for the love of art and settled in Chandigarh. News-Patiala Group General Manager Amit Sharma, Chief Editor Jyoti Malhotra, Daily News-Patiala Editor Naresh Kaushal, Punjabi News-Patiala Executive Editor Arvinder Kaur Johal were also present on this occasion.

On this occasion, Principal Rani Podar of News-Patiala School thanked the Goswami family for their contribution and support in this basketball court. He said that students stay disciplined through sports and strive to achieve the top position through competition. On this occasion, the head of sports department Dr. Sachin Kashyap thanked.

Meanwhile, an exhibition match was also played between Chandigarh Youth Girls team and Khalsa Girls College team. Amrish Mehta, member of the senior management team of Team India, Dr. Hitesh Sharma and Manu Sehgal, The News-Patiala School Management Member Chand Nehru, Komal Anand also attended. On this occasion, Head Master of YPS Patiala Naveen Kumar Dixit, Sports Head of YPS Patiala Weglar M. Walter, Associate Professor of SGGS College Sector 26 and Technical Chairman of Chandigarh Basketball Association Dr. Mandeep Thaur, Senior Vice President of Basketball Association Chandigarh and Independent School General Secretary of the Association RD Singh Riad Mi was present.
