The date of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) elections has been announced. In this regard, the Commissioner Gurdwara Management Committee has released the election schedule. According to the schedule, the election notification will be issued on December 18 and voting for 40 wards will be held on January 19. Voting will continue from 8 am to 5 pm. Immediately after voting, the results will be counted and announced.
It may be mentioned that recently the leaders of the Sikh community held a meeting with Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini and Haryana Gurudwara Election Commission Chairman Justice HS Bhalla (retired) and demanded early elections.
It may be mentioned that the tenure of the previous HSGMC (ad hoc) was completed in May and community leaders have been continuously demanding elections. The government on August 14 nominated 41 members of the ad hoc HSGMC to manage, monitor and control all properties of gurdwaras in Haryana. Since 2014, this committee has been run by members nominated by the government.
