Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the benefit of these schemes to 1 crore Gig workers in the budget 2025 budget speech.

These 5 announcements related to the job-skilling of the youth were made by the Finance Minister-

  1. 10 thousand fellowships will be available in IITs and IIMS.
  2. Medical education will increase by 10,000 seats next year. 75,000 seats will increase in 5 years.
  3. 50 thousand Atal Tinkering Labs will be built in which skilling courses will be done.
  4. With the help of Indian language book scheme, digital books will be available for school and higher education.
  5. 5 new centers will be built under the National Center for Skilling.
  6. In 23 IITs, 65,000 seats will increase, IIT will be Patna Express.
  7. 3 Center of Excellence in AI for Education will be made. Agricultural, health and AI centers will be formed with a budget of 5 thousand crores.

Explain that in 2024, 5 schemes were announced for the youth. 4 of these are still in process, while 1 scheme is hold. The update of these 5 schemes is like this-

Scheme 1: Skilling

Announcement: Internship in top companies

  • In 500 top companies of the country, the government will make 20 lakh youth internships every year.
  • 5 thousand rupees will be given every month during the internship.
  • A total of 1 crore youth will be skilled in the next 5 years.

  • The online registration for intensity started from October 12, 2024.
  • As of 15 November, 6.21 lakh youths registered for intensity.
  • It was to be launched on December 2, but the scheme was held on the same day.
  • Even after 2 months, there has been no date for the scheme to resume.

Scheme 2: Job Creation in Manufacturing

Announcement: Incentive on first job

  • For the first time in the manufacturing sector, those who get jobs will get incentives.
  • The government will give incentives to both the jobs and those who give jobs.
  • Incentive will be fixed in EPFO ​​based on the first 4 -year deposit.
  • 30 lakh youth will benefit.

  • Employees were given time till 30 November 2024 for registration in EPFO.
  • The last date was extended to 15 December 2024 and then 15 January 2025.

Scheme 3: First Time Employment

Announcement: Bonus equal to first salary

  • The government will give 15 thousand rupees to the people who register for the first time in EPFO.
  • These bonuses will be transferred directly to bank account in 3 installs.
  • Scheme will be benefited only if there is a monthly salary less than 1 lakh rupees.
  • The scheme will help 2 crore 10 lakh youths.

  • This date was increased to 15 December 2024 and then to 15 January 2025.

Scheme 4: Support to Employer

Announcement: EPF Remissives to Companies

  • On connecting new employees with EPFO, the government will give remuneration to those who give jobs.
  • This will benefit employees with less than 1 lakh salary with EPFO.
  • The jobman will be given a remuneration of 3 thousand rupees every month for 2 years.

Scheme 5: Higher Education Loan

Announcement: Guarantee Free Loan up to 10 Lakh

  • For admission in Higher Education Institutes, there will be government help in loans up to 10 lakhs.
  • The government will give 75% credit guarantee on loans up to 7.5 lakhs. That is, if the loan is not repaid, the bank will charge 75% of the money from the government.
  • The government will pay 3% of the annual interest on loans up to 10 lakhs.

32 out of every 1000 unemployed in the country

3 major skilling schemes continue in the country

The government has run 3 major skilling schemes for illiterate, rural and backward youth-

1. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)

For illiterate, skillless

  • The objective is to prepare the youth for employment by giving industry skills.
  • Leaving school/college, less educated or skillless unemployed youth can enroll it.
  • Under this, free or subsidized training courses are conducted. Its certificate is available.

2. National Skill Development Mission (NSDM)

For rural youth

  • It started in July 2015.
  • The objective is to provide skill training to 40 crore people by 2022.

  • Training meets government and private institutions. Certificate is received when the course is completed.
  • So far, more than 5 crore people have benefited.

  • It started in September 2014.
  • The objective is to provide skill training to rural youth of 15-35 years.

  • So far, more than 11 lakh youth have benefited.
