Building collapse: Another person’s body was found in the debris of the collapsed multi-storied building in Mohali’s Sohana.

Another person’s body has been found from the rubble of a multi-storied building that fell in Mohali’s Sohana on Saturday. Thus, the death toll in this incident has increased to two. Even yesterday, the body of a woman named Drishti was found under the debris.

According to an official statement, Mohali SDM Damandeep Kaur said that during the rescue operation, the body of a person has been recovered and the deceased is being identified.

The rescue operation continued throughout the night at the spot and the help of various machines including JCB was called as part of the rescue operation. National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF), Army, State Rescue Team are engaged in relief and rescue operations since Saturday evening. Along with ambulances, a team of doctors has also been deployed at the scene.

According to preliminary information, the building also had Hick Gym and the building collapsed due to the excavation in the adjacent plot. In a post on social media platform ‘X’, Indian Army’s Western Command said, “Engineer Task Force is working at the site of the incident. Also going for the help of debris removal machine and JCB machines. The upper debris has been removed and efforts are being made to reach the basement.”

After this incident on Saturday, all major hospitals of Mohali, including Civil Hospital, Fortis, Max and Sohana, have been asked to be ready to treat the injured. DGP Gaurav Yadav, who was present at the incident site on Saturday, said that rescue operations are ongoing by various agencies. -News-Patiala
