NDP Leader on Tariff Threat : Jagmeet Singh, leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP) and former aide of outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, has warned about US President-elect Donald Trump’s repeated proposal to increase Canadian tariffs and merge Canada with the US.
It is noteworthy that only one week is left for Donald Trump to take oath as the 47th President of America. Meanwhile, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh posted a video on social media platform X. In the video, Jagmeet Singh said, “I have a message for Donald Trump that our country is not for sale. Neither now nor in the future.” He further said, “The people of Canada are ready to risk their lives to protect the sovereignty of their country.”
‘Canadians will risk their lives to save the country’– Jagmeet Singh
Warning Donald Trump, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh said, “I have been all over the country and I can say that Canadians are proud to be Canadians. We are proud of our country and we are ready to risk our lives to protect its sovereignty.” He further said, “Right now there is a terrible fire in the forests of America. Thousands of houses have been burnt to ashes, while Canadian firefighters have come forward to help America. “It shows who we are and how we support our neighbors.”
I have a message for Donald Trump.
We’re good neighbours.

The NDP leader said, “If Donald Trump thinks he can start a fight with us, he will have to pay a price for it. I have said that if Donald Trump imposes an additional 25 percent tariff on Canada, we should respond by imposing a similar retaliatory tariff. I think whoever is running for Prime Minister of Canada should do the same.”
