If you or someone you know is dreaming of becoming a pilot, this information is for you. Helicopter pilot and ex-army officer Ravi Prakash Maurya has come up with some special advice for students who want to become pilots. They say that as attractive as this career is, it also demands hard work and dedication.
What to study to become a pilot
First, students must pass 12th standard with good marks in Physics and Mathematics. A strong understanding of these two subjects is essential, as they form the foundation for further flight training. A strong command of the English language is also essential, as all communications with Air Traffic Control (ATC) are conducted in English. For this it is necessary to pass the “English Language Proficiency Test”, information about which is also available on the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) website.
According to Ravi Maurya, there are no shortcuts in this field – only hard work and discipline is the path to success. Before starting pilot training, candidates must pass a medical fitness test. After passing the medical, one can join a recognized flying club or training institute.
There are several flying clubs in India that provide CPL (Commercial Pilot License) training. This whole process costs about 70 to 80 lakh rupees. Therefore, it is important to be financially prepared. Ravi Maurya says, “The most important thing to become a pilot is willpower and constant hard work. If you have passion and dedication, the destination is not far.” In simple words, strong base, English skills, physical fitness, and proper training, these are the four main lessons of becoming a successful pilot that you can become a successful pilot after passing.
