The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the 10th board examination from 2026 to 2 times a year. The board on Tuesday approved the draft associated with it. The first exam will be from 17 February to 6 March, the second from 5 to 20 May.
More than 26 lakh children will benefit from this decision. More than 24 lakh children are sitting in the 2025 exam. Exams have been taken on this pattern in session 2021-22. After this the verdict was withdrawn.
The board has taken this decision watching the children’s exam stress. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that like JEE, children will benefit mentally from the examination 2 times. Once the score is low, he will be able to improve it for the second time.

Question: Since when will the rule of examing twice be applicable.
answer: This rule will be applicable from 2025-26 sessions. This means that board exams will be held 2 times in the year 2026.

answer: No. The supplementary exam for the 10th will now be abolished.

answer: No. The exam center for both examinations will remain the same.

Board ordered feedback till 9 March The board has asked stakeholders on this draft to give feedback by 9 March. This includes school administration, parents association, teachers association, policy makers and selected NGOs.

The draft of conducting 2 times a year was prepared in August 2024. During this time the education minister Dharmendra Pradhan had said that Just as students have a joint entrance exam for admission in engineering colleges two years a year (JEE) There is an option to give, in the same way students will be able to give exams of class 10 twice a year.
The Ministry of Education had discussed the board exam 2 times a year with CBSE Board Secretary and other academics on 19 February last week. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan discussed with CBSE, NCERT, KVS, NVS and many school officials to conduct exams 2 times a year after which this decision has been taken.
