Three accused including councilor’s nephew arrested in case of theft from shop in Sector 39
.
Chandigarh Sector 39 police station has arrested three accused, including the nephew of an Aam Aadmi Party councilor, in the case of theft of groceries, Rs 40,000 cash and other items from a shop. The police will present the accused in the court on Saturday. The accused have been identified as Rahul, Suraj Prakash and Sabudin Ansari, residents of Sector 56.
Police said that Rahul and Suraj had stolen from the shop and sold the goods to Sabudin. Sabudin has a grocery shop in Sector 56. Sabudin Ansari is the nephew of councilor Manowar Ansari, resident of Sector 56.
All three accused, police team and stolen goods recovered
After the incident, the police checked the nearby cameras and identified the accused. While committing the theft, the accused had switched off the cameras of the shop. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Rahul and Suraj while roaming in Sector 39. The accused told during interrogation that they had sold the stolen goods to Sabudin Ansari of Sector 56. After this the police arrested Sabudin and recovered the stolen goods. The accused was captured in the camera installed outside the shop. Whereas the cameras inside were switched off by the accused.
Theft in the shop by switching off the shop’s cameras Jhampur resident Vivek Goswami told in the complaint given to the police that he has a shop named Vivek Department in Sector 39. On the night of 4th November, he closed the shop and went home. When we reached the shop in the morning, we saw that the locks of the shop were broken. 11 kg ghee, rented goods, Rs 40 thousand in cash and other items were missing from the shop. Before entering the shop, the accused switched off the CCTV cameras of the shop. After this, they covered their faces, broke the lock of the shop and stole it and ran away. Sector 39 police station registered a case against unknown accused on the complaint and started investigation.
