In Chandigarh, a person from Sangrur was cheated of Rs 16.56 lakh in the name of sending him abroad. The accused neither got the visa nor returned the money. On the complaint of the victim, the police have registered a case and started investigation.

In the complaint given to the police, Balwinder Kaur, resident of Sangrur, Punjab, told that Nikas Sharma, resident of Sector-17/C, Chandigarh and others cheated her of Rs 16 lakh 56 thousand on the pretext of getting a visa. It is alleged that Nikas Sharma and his associates neither got the visa nor returned the money despite taking huge amount to send it abroad in November 2024.
Police only after investigating the matter
This matter is being investigated by the police. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused extorted money by making fake promises to people who wanted to go abroad. Police say that the activities of the accused are being investigated and the accused will be caught soon.
