October Public Holidays 2025: October is full of holidays. These holidays are declared on different days in the states. However, some states have extended school holidays till November 2.
While Uttar Pradesh will have 5 days of Diwali holidays. Schools across the state will reopen on October 24. Two more holidays have been announced after the Diwali holidays. Schools and colleges across the state will remain closed on October 28 and October 30.
Chhat Puja holiday on October 28
Chhath Puja is a great festival of worshiping Lord Surya, which is celebrated with great fanfare in various states of the country. This festival is celebrated with great devotion and faith in Uttar Pradesh as well as Bihar, Jharkhand and many states of eastern India. Devotees celebrate this festival according to the customs on this day. On this occasion, there is a holiday in government offices, schools and most educational institutions. All government and private schools in Uttar Pradesh will remain closed on Tuesday, October 28. This day has been declared a public holiday.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti holiday on 31st October
Iron man Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel’s birthday will be celebrated on October 31 across the country. Commemorating their contribution to the unity and integrity of the country, this day will be celebrated as National Unity Day. According to government orders, a holiday has been declared in all government offices, educational institutions and local bodies on this day. Apart from all government schools in the state, there will be a holiday in private schools and educational institutes as well.
Holidays included in the official list
Both the holidays are included in the list of Uttar Pradesh government. Both these dates have been included as additional government holidays in the notification issued by the government. Before this, Diwali, Dussehra holidays were announced. Now Chhath Puja on October 28 and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti on Friday October 31 have been added to the list of official holidays. All schools, colleges, banks and educational institutions will remain closed during this time.
