Thrissur (Kerala), 24 December

A senior priest of the Orthodox Church in Kerala and a senior leader of the Communist Party of India today targeted the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to the alleged disruption by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) during a Christmas function in a school in Kerala. Meanwhile, the second largest party in the ruling LDF, the Communist Party of India (CPI) strongly criticized the Prime Minister’s attendance at the CBCI Christmas function in New Delhi, terming it as ‘political hypocrisy’.

Yohanon Mor Miletius of Thrissur Diocese of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church criticized the Prime Minister on his social media handle. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had participated in the Christmas function organized by the Catholic Bishops Conference of India (CBCI) in New Delhi a day earlier. “The bishops are honored there and the crib is honored,” the priest said in a Facebook post. Cribs are vandalized here. There should be a word for such behavior in Malayalam, shouldn’t there?””Crib’ is an exhibition depicting the birth of Jesus Christ.
