Gautam Gambhir has given a statement for the first time on Team India’s dressing room controversy, Gambhir says that the matter of the dressing room should be limited to that. It should not go out. He even said that as long as there are honest people in the dressing room, Indian cricket will be in safe hands. Gambhir had to come to the press conference because the news of factionalism in Team India came from Australia a day before.
In which it was told that some players of the team did not want Jasprit Bumrah to captain the Indian team in the first Test match of the series against Australia. It was reported that after losing the Melbourne Test, Team India’s head coach Gambhir was angry with his players. Some senior players were also targeted by Gambhir, with the report claiming that Gambhir had said in the dressing room that “enough is enough”.
The fifth and final Test match of the series between India and Australia will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground from Friday, January 3. Before this test match, the head coach of the Indian team Gautam Gambhir arrived at the press conference organized by India. Gambhir boldly answered questions about factionalism in the Indian team.
Gambhir said, ‘Whatever happens between the coach and the players should be left in the dressing room, as long as there are honest people in the dressing room, Indian cricket will be in safe hands. Only one thing can keep you in the team, and that is your performance. If there is a personal conversation with a player, it should be between both of them.’
According to the report, Gambhir told the players in the Indian dressing room that “enough is enough”. India lost by 184 runs in Melbourne. India lost the wickets of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli in the first session itself.
Rishabh Pant did not realize the value of his wicket and was caught on the boundary by part-time bowler Travis Head. Gambhir was said to have told the players that he had allowed them to play as per their wish but now they will decide how the team plays. He said that the players who do not implement the plan made before the match will be shown the way out of the team.
‘After seeing the pitch we will decide the playing eleven on the match day’
Gautam Gambhir has now reacted to all these things. He said before the fifth Test, ‘Team spirit is the most important thing here. Players can play their traditional game, but only individual players contribute to games.’ Gambhir did not give any clarity about his playing XI in the Sydney Test. He said that after seeing the pitch tomorrow we will decide our playing eleven.
‘Every player knows where to improve’
Gambhir also said that he did not talk to senior batsman Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma about anything other than the strategy to win Test matches. He said, ‘Every player knows where he needs to improve. We have only talked to him about how to win Test matches.
