Weather Alert: It rained in many places in North India yesterday. In some parts of Punjab and Chandigarh too, the cold has increased due to rain in the evening. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in many districts today. Along with this, the Western Disturbance has become active from December 8. Due to which there is a possibility of rain in Himalayan hills and Punjab-Haryana and Chandigarh for the next two days.
According to the information shared by the weather center, the effect of fog will be seen in 7 districts of Punjab, in which fog is likely to fall in Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Barnala, Sangrur and Mansa. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert here. The weather agency has predicted light to moderate rain or snow over the Western Himalayan region on December 9, along with rain over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and western Uttar Pradesh.
Rain is expected in Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Pathankot, Mohali and Chandigarh. Apart from this, the meteorological department has warned of fog in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Pathankot, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Muktsar, Ferozepur, Moga, Fazilka, Bathinda, Mansa, Barnala, Mohali, Malerkotla, Fatehgarh Sahib and Chandigarh. A yellow alert has been issued.
Cyclonic circulation over the Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal is now located over the Bay of Bengal and adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean and extends to the mid-tropospheric level, according to the Meteorological Department. Due to its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the central parts of southern Bay of Bengal in the next few hours. The IMD said the system will move west-northwestward and reach southwest Bay of Bengal off the Sri Lanka-Tamil Nadu coast around December 12.
