The fury of the cold wave continues in many states of North India. It is extremely cold in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Punjab, Telangana, Odisha and Delhi. The effect of the snowfall on the mountains is being seen in the whole of North India. Along with this, the capital city of Delhi is suffering from cold as well as pollution. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major cold alert.
According to the Meteorological Department, due to the influence of western disturbance and induced cyclone around Pakistan, the direction of winds is becoming east and northeast. Due to this, the minimum temperature has started to rise slightly. The temperature has gone below zero at many places in Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir. Lahaul Spiti in Himachal Pradesh recorded the lowest night temperature. The temperature here reached minus 10.6 degrees. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3.4 degrees.
Delhi residents advised to wear warm clothes
According to the Meteorological Department, the cold wave will continue in the capital Delhi for the next few days. There is no chance of rain at present. However, cloud movement may continue. The maximum temperature in Delhi NCR is expected to be between 20 to 22 degrees Celsius till December 25, while the minimum temperature may fall to 8 to 10 degrees Celsius. Cold weather is likely to increase especially at night, due to which people have been advised to wear warm clothes.
According to the IMD, fog continued to prevail in parts of Delhi on Thursday and the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 7 degrees Celsius.
According to Skymet Weather, during the next 24 hours, coastal Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha may experience light to moderate rain. Interior Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Andaman and Nicobar Islands may receive light to moderate rain. Odisha, South Chhattisgarh and parts of South Jharkhand may experience light to moderate rain on December 20. Cold wave condition will continue in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. No major improvement is expected in Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi and NCR.
