Congress workers under the leadership of Rajpura Constituency Congress MLA Hardyal Singh Kamboj kept the main gate of Municipal Council Banur closed till midnight last night. During the scrutiny of the nominations for the by-election to be held on December 21 of ward number-6 here in the office of the council, the Congress workers were afraid that the papers of the party candidate Neelam Rani may be rejected. After 12:30 last night, when the official list of Congress candidate Neelam Rani’s papers was issued by the returning officers, after that Council EO Varinder Jain, Returning Officer Anil Bana, Assistant Returning Officer Gurdayal Ram and other employees. allowed to go out Former Congress MLA Hardyal Singh Kamboj also remained in the council premises with supporters till one o’clock in the night. Mr. Kamboz said that if he was not present at the spot by midnight, his candidate’s papers would have been rejected. It may be mentioned that Ajay Mittal, the husband of Constituency MLA Neena Mittal, along with his party’s candidate Balbir Singh and supporters were present in the council premises till nine o’clock in the night.
Direct competition between Congress and AAP
Today, on the day of withdrawal of nominations, Naveen Kumar, covering candidate of Congress candidate Neelam Rani and Amit Kumar, covering candidate of Aam Aadmi Party candidate Balbir Singh, withdrew their papers. Now for this by-election, there will be a direct contest between Congress and AAP.
