Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Additional District Electoral Officer Jagwinderjit Singh Grewal said that 22 out of 36 nominations for 13 wards of Municipal Council Dharamkot, 2 out of 19 for 15 wards of Municipal Council Baghapurana and 15 for 11 wards of Nagar Panchayat Fatehgarh Panjtur. Out of the 13 wards of Dharamkot Municipal Council, only the ruling party and Congress candidates are in the fray in ward number 7. In 12 wards, the ruling party has remained uncontested.
For Nagar Panchayat Fatehgarh Panjtur, out of 11 wards, there will be a direct competition between the ruling party and Congress candidates in Ward No. 8 and 10, while in Ward No. 7, the papers of the ruling party candidate will be rejected, while the Congress candidate will be uncontested and in the remaining 8 wards, the ruling party candidate will be uncontested. Out of 17 candidates for 15 wards of Nagar Council Baghapurana, two independent candidates will compete with the ruling party in two wards. In this way, ruling party candidates have won in 13 wards. Sources say that independent candidates are being pressured to withdraw their papers.
Former MLA and District Congress President Sukhjit Singh Kaka Lohgarh said that police or officials should not forget that times keep changing and they will have to face serious consequences.
