The result of Cuet UG 2025 is about to come. In such a situation, many types of questions are arising in the minds of students. This is also bound to happen because this is the time from where the direction of his future will be decided.

To remove some such confusion about the career and UG admission of the students, we talked to the Senior Career Counselor Lokman Singh.

Question- What happens after the CUET result?

answer- As soon as the result of Cuet (UG) 2025 is declared, all the students should download their score card from cuet.nta.nic.in. This year, more than 205 universities and colleges including central, state, deemed and private institutions are being recognized for admission.

But only joining CUET is not a guarantee of admission.

For admission….

  • University Eligibility Criteria
  • Merit list rank
  • Document verification
  • Medical fitness
  • Interview

All these will also have to pass. Every university may have its own different ways and needs. All students can get information by visiting the university website.

Question- How is counseling?

answer- Counseling is an important process through which students apply for their choice courses and entry in college. This process conducts every university at its own level. The purpose of counseling is to ensure that seats are allocated to qualified students on the basis of their qualifications, scores and choice.

On the basis of CUET score and other qualification conditions such as categories, reservation policy etc., every university issues its counseling and admission schedule. Students should always keep watching updates on the respective university website and counseling portal.

Question- How to apply for counseling?

answer- Under the counseling process, students apply on the counseling portal of the university. Note that the counseling portal of many universities is different from their regular website. For example, the regular website of Delhi University (DU) is www.du.ac.in but a separate portal for counseling process is ugadmission.uod.ac.in.

Students register by visiting this counseling portal, uploading CUET score cards and other necessary documents. After this, students fill the preference of colleges/institutes and courses of their choice. These colleges can be related to university or under the university themselves.

Question- How do you get admission?

answer- The decision of admission is based on admission Criteria, Eligibility, Merit Rank, Document Verification etc. prescribed by the university. NTA has no direct role in admission process.

Admission is usually in any of the three types given below.

1. Counseling based admission- After the result, universities open their counseling portals. Students register on the portal and fill the courses and colleges of their choice. Then they are allotted seat on the basis of the concerned counseling system CUET score, category and seat availability. After the closure, the university starts the seat allotment process under a fixed system. The first round admission list is first released. Similarly, the admission list in multiple rounds continues until the seats are filled. Often it has more than one round.

Example-

For admission in Delhi University (DU) ugadmission.uod.ac.in But registration has to be done. The university’s CSAS (Central seat allocation system) releases the list of admission in various rounds based on CUET score and preference.

2. Direct App (Cuet Merit based Admission)- Students apply directly to the university or college website. The university makes merit list based on the CUET score and gives admission on the basis of shortlisting.

Example-

Amity University gives direct admission based on CUET score. However, some courses may also have interviews.

3. Hybrid Mode (CUET + other rounds)- Some institutes also interview, SOP or portfolio review with CUET score.

Example-

TISS (Tata Institute of Social Sciences) admission based on CUET score and interview/SOP.

Important advice- On the name of any round of counseling, after the name comes, go to the counseling/ admission portal and confirm your seat. This is followed by a document verification. After that the student will have to pay the fees through the online portal. Follow the time limit and keep taking updates from the respective university website.

Question- How is the seat lock?

answer- When a student is allotted seat in any round of counseling and if the student accepts that seat unconditionally, then that seat is locked in the name of that student. Now this seat cannot be given to any other student in any other counseling round.

Question- See college of choice or course?

answer- Talking about the current trend, the college is given priority many times because students and parents give importance to the prospects of the college ambiences, quality of education, faculty, access, approach and placement. The attraction of large name colleges also remains due to networking and future prospects. On the other hand, most students choose the course on the basis of their interest, aspiration and time trend. They see which course matches his career goals and hobbies.

This option also changes according to the nature of the course. The role of a college becomes more important in professional and technical courses (such as engineering, computer science, management) as infrastructure and placement there has a major impact on career. At the same time, the choice of course in Arts, Science or Vocational courses often comes first because the depth and interest of studies leads to career.

Students should first give priority to the course because this is the area in which you will work for years to come. Your studies, your skill and your career will depend on this course. College should be the second factor because the college environment and facilities with good courses can improve your development.

Question- What to do when less marks come?

answer- This question comes in the mind of every student who has got less marks than expected in Cuet. In such a situation it is necessary to take the right steps instead of panic. Let us know how the path ahead can be made on low score too….

1. Analyze your cut-off and score- First of all, see how much difference between your score and cut-off of your favorite university/course. Many universities/college cut-offs decrease in different rounds. So if you do not get a chance in the first round, do not give up courage, wait for the front round and spot round.

2. Focus on low cut-off colleges/courses- Search universities and colleges where cut-offs are relatively short. Look at the options of the course which are connected to your interest but where the demand for score is low.

3. Wait for spot rounds and open counseling- Many times seats remain vacant after counseling. In that case universities organize spots or open counseling where low scores can also get a chance.

4. Choose an alternative course or program- If you cannot get the desired course, then consider the concerned or alternative course (eg vocational program, certificate course). Later internal upgrade or lateral entry can go to the desired course.
