The Supreme Court today said that the courts are always open to the demands and suggestions of farmers. A bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ujal Bhuiyan said that farmers can approach us directly or through their authorized representatives. The Supreme Court also took cognizance of Dallewal’s deteriorating health and directed the Punjab government to provide medical aid to the farmer leader without delay.

It is significant that the Punjab government had told the Supreme Court today that they had held meetings with the farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal (who has been fasting for the last 22 days at the Khanuri border) and other farmers’ leaders, but they were set up by the Supreme Court. has refused to negotiate with the High-Power Committee.

Punjab Advocate General Gurminder Singh told the bench that the committee had invited the farmers for talks on December 17, but the protesting farmers did not hold any meeting. Singh said that the state government is persuading the farmers for talks on a regular basis. He said that the farmers were also suggested that they can submit their demands directly to the court.

The Supreme Court said, “We want to make it clear that the courts are always open to the demands or any suggestions of the farmers. The farmers can contact us directly or through their authorized representatives.” -News-Patiala
