Delhi Assembly polls: The Congress today released its first list of 21 candidates for the Delhi assembly elections early next year, fielding city unit chief Devendra Yadav from Badali and former MP Sandeep Dixit from New Delhi.
It may be mentioned that Arvind Kejriwal is the current MLA from New Delhi.
The Congress has also fielded former Delhi minister Haroon Yusuf from Ballimaran, former Delhi Congress president Chaudhry Anil Kumar from Patparganj, national spokesperson Ragini Naik from Wazirpur and Adarsh Shastri from Dwarka. Among the other candidates, Ali Mehndi will contest from Mustafabad, Abdul Rahman from Seelampur, Rohit Chaudhary from Nangloi Jat and Praveen Jain from Shalimar Bagh.
The list was released soon after the Congress High Command gave the green light to the names of 21 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections.
The meeting in this regard was held under the chairmanship of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, CEC member Ambika Soni, Salman Khurshid, Mistry, Delhi Congress President Devendra Yadav were also present in this meeting.
Qazi Nizamuddin, in-charge of party affairs in Delhi, said that Delhi has suffered a lot in the last 10 years.
